Inidata.id - Regent of Kubu Raya Muda Mahendrawan assessed that the Local Content of Peat and Mangrove Environmental Education is very appropriate to be applied in schools in Kubu Raya, considering that Kubu Raya Regency has a fairly large area of peat and mangrove land.
"Even some research samples mention certain types of mangroves that are not found in other parts of Indonesia, but are in Kubu Raya Regency," said the Young Regent after attending the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) for Teachers of Local Content for Peat and Mangrove Environmental Education which was held World Agroforestry (ICRAF) synergizes with the Kubu Raya Education and Culture Office, West Kalimantan Province, and collaborates with BRGM, Blue Forest and WWF, at Gardenia Resort & Spa, Thursday (4/8/2022).
According to the Young Regent, the local content of Peat and Mangrove Environmental Education is very much needed by the people of Kubu Raya Regency, because Kubu Raya Regency has a fairly large area of peatland and mangroves, namely, 293,000 hectares of peatland and 122 thousand hectares of mangrove plants.
“The public, especially the younger generation, must understand this. If these two things (peat and mangroves) can be utilized, then our generation will actually think globally," said the Young Regent,
The Young Regent added that through the Local Contents of Peat and Mangrove Environmental Education, it is hoped that the community will be able to make maximum use of peatlands and mangrove forests.
"Later, we will evaluate the teaching materials, which ones need to be added and which ones need to be strengthened," he said.
